TGI Friday’s, the Karen Forrester-led, Electra Partners-backed chain, is set to open its first site in Brighton, M&C understands.

The 74-strong group, which will soon open in Walsall and the Metrocentre in Newcastle, has secured a unit at the Brighton Marina, where it is set to be joined this summer by the Casual Dining Group-owned brands - Las Iguanas and Bella Italia.

TGI hope to open up to eight sites this year and has secured further units in Bournemouth; Eldon Square in Newcastle; Southampton; Stevenage; Stoke and Telford.

Electra acquired TGI Friday’s UK at the end of 2014 and its investment is set to help the brand expand to 100 sites over the next three to four years.

Bella Italia is launching four new sites this month as part of a 20-strong openings schedule between now and May.

Las Iguanas is set to open a further flagship site in London, after securing a site in Bloomsbury.

The 45-strong group, which is understood to have up to 10 sites in its pipeline for the coming 12 months, has secured the former Strada site in the Brunswick Centre for an opening later this spring. It will become its fifth site in the capital.

CDG is looking at opportunities to operate its Bella Italia and Las Iguanas brands in joint schemes.
