TGI Friday’s UK, the Karen Forrester-led restaurant group, has announced that 270 apprentices have been enrolled on its apprenticeship programme one year after it was launched.

The programme is available for all 4,000 of its team members, and potential employees through new restaurant openings. Those that complete the scheme will gain five Level Two programmes (equivalent of five GCSEs) covering all roles within the restaurant as well as a Level Three Hospitality & Supervision Leadership Principles Course.

Jacqui McManus, director of culture and people development at TGI Friday’s, said: “We’re really pleased with how the apprenticeship scheme has attracted a wave of driven and talented young people into the industry. With the extra support from our training academies, the scheme has helped not only to build the confidence of young people but also give them a purpose and a goal to aspire to.”

The company uses its Academy of Excellence, a training centre for existing team members to aide them on their careers path, as well as an Online Academy.
