Taco Bell, the Yum! Brands-owned chain, is to make its debut in Scotland, with an opening in Glasgow, MCA understands.

The group will open a site in Glasgow city centre this autumn under a franchise deal with the Adil Group, which currently operates c35 KFC sites under franchise in the UK for Yum!.

At the same time, Taco Bell is set to up its presence on the south coast of England with an opening in Poole, with the Caskade Group. The new site, which will open later this spring, will become the brands 15th UK opening.

Last July, the company opened its first UK drive-thru site at Meridian Point in Cleethorpes in partnership with local franchisee Northgate Fast Food.

The quick service restaurant brand launched its first high street restaurant format in the UK in Sheffield at the end of 2014 and has ambitions to open many more sites across the country.

Last year, Nick Dawson, general manager at Taco Bell Europe, division told MCA that the group believes there is potential to open “hundreds” of restaurants in the UK.

Having developed its brand and built up a supply chain the company is now looking to accelerate the pace of openings with plans to open five to 10 sites every year as it scales up.
