Taco Bell is planning to open a site in Croydon, as it furthers its expansion in the UK.

The company has submitted a planning application to Croydon Council for a change of use from A3 (restaurant) to mixed A3/A5 (restaurant and hot food takeaway) use, for 38 George Street – the current site of a café called Scrumpchinos.

It is anticipated the restaurant, which would be operated by franchisee T Bello Group on behalf of Taco Bell, would have capacity for 49 covers.

It was recently revealed that the Tex-Mex franchise recently is due to open on Commercial Road in Portsmouth, with the site to open under the Cascade Group, which operates Taco Bell’s in Brighton, Southampton, Poole, Chichester and Woking.

It is the latest of a string of business to target openings on George Street, with Veeno having opened at 46 George Street in the summer, and Triple Two Coffee also having submitted plans to open a coffee shop at number 33.
