Taco Bell, the Yum! Brands-owned chain, will open its first UK drive-thru site and tenth outlet in the country, at Meridian Point in Cleethorpes this July in partnership with local franchisee Northgate Fast Food.

Nick Dawson, general manager at Taco Bell Europe, said: “This is the sixth Taco Bell restaurant that our franchisee Northgate Fast Food has opened in the UK. We are proud to have such a great local partner, with a strong synergy to the brand and a vision to continue to bring Taco Bell to the people of the UK.”

Taco Bell Cleethorpes will be the first opening of 2016 for the brand and is set to followed by a handful of others before the end of the year.

The quick service restaurant launched its first high street restaurant format in the UK in Sheffield at the end of 2014 and has ambitions to open many more sites across the country. In January Dawson, the head of Taco Bell’s UK division told MCA that the group believes there is potential to open “hundreds” of restaurants in the UK.

Having developed its brand and built up a supply chain the company is now looking to accelerate the pace of openings with plans to open five to 10 sites every year as it scales up.
