Taco Bell has submitted plans for its first restaurant in North East England, on the site of the former Frankie and Benny’s in Gateshead.
The Tex-Mex fast-food operator us due to open on Clasper Way under franchisee Northgate Fast Food Ltd.
It would be the rapidly chain’s 26th UK store.
Last week, another Taco Bell franchisee, Caskade Caterers, secured a £29.4 million funding package from HSBC to support its expansion plans.
The funding will support with the rollout of new Taco Bell restaurants across London and South West England, the first of which recently opened in Southampton and Poole. The next location to open will be London in summer 2018, with plans to open another three to five stores per annum over the next few years.
