London-based gourmet fast-food concept Street Kitchen is opening a permanent site in London Fields.

Founders Jun Tanaka, Michelin-trained executive chef at Pearl Restaurant & Bar and Mark Jankel, founder of The Food Initiative will officially launch The Street Kitchen Hatch on 15 February.

The duo say it is part of a planned expansion to several more London sites over the next three years.

The new site will serve Street Kitchen’s signature breakfasts and bistro boxes, as well as a brand new evening menu

Diners are able to either eat in or takeaway from the Hatch seven days a week, choosing from dishes such as poached eggs with spinach & smokey tomato compote (AKA shakshuka) and home-cured & smoked bacon brioche for breakfast (prices start at £3.50), or crispy chicken (Packington free-range) with pickled red onions, crushed potatoes, bacon & old winchester mayonnaise / smoked fillet of Loch Duart salmon with marinated beets, celeriac yoghurt slaw & horseradish for lunch (from £6.50).The Hatch will be opening in the evenings from mid of February, serving a selection of small sharing plate dishes.

Jankel said: “We’ve had an eye on the arches at London Fields for some time and are thrilled to have got our hands on one of them, so we can bring our delicious food to the neighbourhood. We are really excited to be experimenting with Middle Eastern style weekend brunches and to go back to our roots with our first restaurant-style evening menu.

“Our ambition is to disrupt the street food sector by offering ‘slow food, fast’. People want food that tastes amazing, is served quick, and brings together the highest quality ingredients. As we see it, we’re sprinting towards a widening gap in the market. There’s so much rubbish on the high street - whether it’s been pumped full of hormones or is saturated with sugars. People say they’re fans of Street Kitchen because we offer great food and great value, and insist on handpicking every single ingredient from trusted British suppliers who we know personally.”
