Travel food concession operator SSP is working with high profile chef James Martin to open a further two James Martin Kitchen over the next year at transport hubs, M&C has learnt.

Following the launch of its successful first site at Stansted Airport, the group will look to open another two sites in airports or railway stations.

Simon Smith, chief executive of SSP in UK and Ireland, told M&C he expects to open in 2016 and anticipates growing from one to three sites by this time next year and to review again at that point.

He said no one is doing anything similar to the concept in the travel space currently and having invested time and effort to develop the brand with Martin, SSP will definitely grow the concept.

Meanwhile the company is working with television chef Gino D’Campo to open Gino’s Italian Kitchen at a new mezzanine area of Euston Station - as previously flagged up by M&C. It will serve pizza, pasta and fresh coffee in a fast-casual restaurant with a grab and go section.
