Slim Chickens, the Boparan Restaurant Group’s fast-casual chicken brand, is looking to expand across the South Coast following a franchise development agreement with JRK Restaurants.

The agreement will allow the new partners to initially open five outlets across the South over the next four years.

The group holds the master franchise for Slim Chickens UK, and has converted some of its Giraffe and Ed’s Easy Diner stores to the concept.

It currently has seven stores in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Kent, which all opened in the last two years.

“We are delighted to partner with JRK in what is a significant move for everyone associated with the Slim Chickens brand,” said Judd Williams, BRG’s Franchise Director. “As a result of this new signing, we have taken the first steps in our ambitious sub-franchise plans to fast track the roll out of Slim Chickens and introduce the brand to more towns and cities across the UK.”

“We already have a site in mind for the opening of the first franchised Slim Chickens outlet and expect to make an announcement within the next couple of weeks,” added Karim Kassam, chairman of JRK.

Speaking to MCA at the end of last year, Tom Gordon, Slim Chickens co-founder and CEO, said its UK expansion was part of a wider strategy, at just over 100 sites, it’s looking to achieve a target of 600 internationally by 2025.
