Shoryu Ramen, the concept launched by Japanese entrepreneur Tak Tokumine in 2012, is eyeing further growth as it expects turnover to double to £12m this year.

Sales will be boosted by the opening of a fifth site at the Broadgate Circle development in April, which will have room for 94 diners.

Tokumine told The Telegraph: “We serve 1,000 bowls of ramen noodles a day, and that is rising. British people were waiting for these quality, authentic noodles. British people are very enthusiastic about food and are adventurous about trying a new product.”

He is now looking at potential sites outside of London, with plans for amibitious growth in the next two years.

There are currently Shoryu bars in Regent Street, Soho and Kingly Court, while Mr Tokumine also owns Shoryu Go, a takeaway restaurant in Piccadilly Circus.
