Rossopomodoro, the Italian restaurant chain backed by Change Capital Partners (CCP), has said that the rebranding of six-strong estate was on track and delivering sales uplifts, as it gears up to open its seventh unit in the UK.

The group, which is led in the UK by Handley Amos, will open its seventh site at the Southside development in Wandsworth on 1 April. Amos said that the chain hoped to open further sites in the second half of the year but that competition for good units was “fierce”.

The company, which announced it plan to invest £4min opening new sites in UK and a redesign of its image last year, has so far rebranded five of its sites and Amos told M&C Reportthat trading across these was in line with expectations.

He said: “We have put a lot of work into the development of these sites and in upgrading the image of the brand, including a new website, and this is starting to pay off. Site competition is fierce and we had hoped to have opened further sites here, but we won’t rush into any marginal units.”

The company currently operates five sites in the capital and one in Birmingham.
