Saiphin and Alex Moore, the husband and wife team behind Rosa’s Thai Café and the newly-opened Lao Café, have launched a further new Thai food concept, Saiphin’s Thai Kitchen, MCA has learnt.
Positioned as a complementary rather than competing brand to Rosa’s, the new concept has launched with a first site in London Fields, featuring a delivery, takeaway and eat-in service.
The concept is currently self-financing, but the company is exploring external sources of funding, including crowd sourcing.
The London Fields site is expected to be the first of many, both in London and beyond, with investment banker Simon Penney set to oversee the expansion of Saiphin’s Thai Kitchen
Penney, who has led large teams globally, will lead the rollout of new sites as well as the broader fundraising exercise.
The company said that Saiphin’s Thai Kitchen will specialise in “seasonal curries, zingy salads, warming soups and great-tasting noodle stir fries, all made from scratch with fresh ingredients”.
The launch is part of a significant year for the Moores, who recently opened the eighth site of Rosa’s Thai Café in Brixton, with further openings scheduled for West Hampstead; Earlham Street, Seven Dials; and One Tower Bridge.
The group also recently opened a delivery kitchen unit at the RooBox in Battersea. If the Battersea trial is successful it will look to team up with Deliveroo in further RooBox locations.
It currently operates off-shoot concept Lao’s Café in Chandos Place, Covent Garden.
