The Juice Well, the Will Ricker backed concept, has gone into liquidation after closing its Soho site, MCA has learnt.

The juice bar concept, which was on 4 Peter Street, was a collaboration with fitness and nutrition guru Joe Cross, and included Ricker Restaurants financial controller Annie Coles as a director.

Raymond Claughton of Rushtons Insolvency has been appointed liquidator of the business.

The juice bar launched in 2014 with hopes to open five sites in the capital in its first year and a further 12 in its second year.

According to MCA research, after several years as a key trend, juice bars have peaked in popularity, with consumers returning to eating whole fruits, which include more antioxidants and fibre.

While Joe & the Juice and Crussh remain in growth, both have since diversified away from a core juice offering into other beverages and healthy grab and go food.

Fuel Juice Bars went into administration at the end of 2017, closing 13 sites.

Ricker also owns and operates restaurants such as La Bodega Negra, E&O, Eight Over Eight and The Stoke House in Victoria Nova.
