Brett Redman, the Australian chef behind Michelin Bib Gourmand winning Elliot’s and The Richmond in Hackney, is planning to open a second site under his Japanese street food concept Jidori, MCA understands.

It is understood that Redman is in advanced talks to open a second Jidori in Catherine Street, Covent Garden.

He opened the first Jidori in Kingsland High Street, Dalston at the end of 2015.

Jidori serves a selection of yakitori skewers – chicken grilled over hot coals – alongside small plates and rice dishes for lunch and dinner.

Redman developed the restaurant in partnership with Natalie Lee-Joe, a former creative strategist at Saatchi & Saatchi, for over two years after the pair felt there was a gap in the market for accessible, casual and fun Japanese food in London.

Inspired by Tokyo’s street food scene, the 40-cover Dalston site features seating around an open kitchen and grill designed to create an experience as close to a Japanese yakitori-ya as possible.

The chef first opened Elliot’s in Bethnal Green in 2006, followed by the Pavilion in Victoria Park in 2007.

A second incarnation of Elliot’s opened in Borough Market in 2011, winning a Michelin Bib Gourmand in its first year.
