Gordon Ramsay, currently locked in legal battle with former business partner and father- in-law Chris Hutcheson, will take time out to open a new casual-dining restaurant at London’s Borough Market next year. The restaurant, called Union Street Cafe, will be headed by Stuart Gillies, the man who oversaw the recent relaunch of the iconic Savoy Grill. It is thought that the site, which will be on two floors in Harling House on the intersection of Union Street and Great Suffolk Street in Southwark, cost £235,000 for a 35-year-lease. As well as the relaunch of the Savoy Grill, Gillies is opening Bread Street Kitchen, a 250-seat casual-dining restaurant that is due to launch in London's One New Change in spring 2011. The restaurant, based on Ramsay’s Plane Food template, will join Jamie Oliver's recently-opened BBQ concept Barbecoa at the site.
