Prezzo, the restaurant group led by Jonathan Kaye, has appointed Mehdi Gashi as an executive director with immediate effect. Gashi was first joined Prezzo early in its development back in 2001 and the group said that he had played a key role in delivering the roll out of its restaurants across the UK. As one of two Operations Directors he has overall responsibility for running approximately half the Prezzo estate, including the restaurants in central London. Gashi, who has no current directorships, has no interest in the ordinary shares of the company, but he has options over 550,000 ordinary shares. Prezzo, which earlier this year appointed Christian Poole to the role of marketing director, will open the 20th site under it Mexican format Chimichanga in Billericay next month as it ramps up the rollout of the brand. Earlier this year, Kaye, chief executive, told M&C Report: “Chimichanga has always been good for us since our first branch in Braintree, Essex. They are all good performers. We will try to and push the brand a bit more with four or five openings this year.” The group currently operates 171 sites under its core brand, 19 Chimichanga sites, three Cafe Unos and one Ultimate Burger unit. It will open the next site under its eponymous brand in August in Street, Somerset.
