The team behind London restaurant Portland is opening its second restaurant in the capital this summer.
Clipstone will open on Clipstone Street in Fitzrovia in August with Portland’s head chef Merlin Labron-Johnson moving to the new site.
It is not yet known what the focus of the new restaurant will be, but it is expected to have the same ‘approachable menu of simple and seasonal food’ as its sister site.
The new restaurant will open 20 months after Portland, the first joint venture for restaurateurs William Lander and Daniel Morgenthau, opened its doors on Great Portland Street.
Portland, which secured a Michelin star in September, has been widely acclaimed for its creative, yet technically-skilled food from Labron-Johnson who took on his first head chef role at Portland at the age of 24 following two years’ working at De Wulf in Belgium.
