PizzaExpress has further strengthened its central London estate after securing a site near Gloucester Road Tube Station, Kensington.

The group, which is looking to add 100 sites in the UK over the next five year, has exchanged on the former NatWest on Cromwell Road.

Last month, the company announced plans to recruit 2,500 people in the UK over the next five years as part of its expansion programme, which will see c20 new restaurant openings a year.

The 448-strong company has also outlined plans to grow its apprenticeship scheme with an ambition to have at least one apprentice in each of its restaurants.

Earlier this year, the group opened a new flagship site in London’s Charing Cross Road and took the opportunity with the unit to create a slightly more grown-up format.
