Pizza Hut has been named the Pizza Restaurant Chain of The Year for the second year running and Pizza Delivery Chain of the Year at the at the Pizza, Pasta & Italian Food (PAPA) Industry Awards.

The Rutland Partners-backed group beat competition from PizzaExpress, Ask and Prezzo for the chain award while the shortlist for the delivery accolade included Papa John’s, Pizza Hut and Firezza Ltd.

Pizza Hut was recognised for its year of “incredible innovation” that has seen it not only refurbish more than 50 of its restaurants in the UK but broaden its appeal with new dishes including shakes and fries.

Kathryn Austin, HR director at Pizza Hut said of theChain of the Year award: “We are delighted to have won this award, which is a reflection of the hard work the whole team has put into the brand over the past 12 months in the UK. 2014 has been a year of exciting change and innovation for us and we look forward to bringing our new dining experience to many more of our loyal guests as we continue the reimaging of our estate through 2015.”

Earlier this year chief executive Jens Hofma told M&C Report the company plans to accelerate its refurbishment programme next year by investing in a further 90 restaurants, after seeing like-for-like sales at invested sites grow by 20 to 25% on average following the reimaging.
