Patisserie Holdings, operator of Druckers and Baker & Spice chains, is eyeing new growth avenues for its core Patisserie Valerie (PV) brand after securing seven former Paul sites across London train stations.

The group opened at Euston, Paddington, Marylebone, St Pancras and Victoria on Friday, with a second site at St Pancras opening on Saturday. The final site in the package will open today at Waterloo.

The openings come after the success of the group’s original site with Network Rail, which opened last year at the redeveloped King’s Cross.

The chain is also understood to be exploring the option of opening concessions under a new partnership with a national retailer.

The company now operates over 100 sites across its three brands, including 76 PVs and plans to open up to 20 sites in total this year.

The group, which opened 18 new sites last year, has opened new PV units in Southend, Portsmouth and Colchester over the past two months, with an upcoming opening in Derby Westfield set for later this month.

Paul May, chief executive of the company, which is backed by Risk Capital and saw turnover rise by almost a quarter to £49.5m in the year to 30 September, told M&C Report last December that the group could eventually operate an estate of over 200 sites in the UK.

It hopes to open its first sites in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland this year and is giving consideration to expanding into an evening offer for the PV estate.
