Neds Noodle Bar, the London-based fast food concept, has signed an international franchise deal to open up to 100 sites beginning with the UK, Germany and UAE, M&C Report has learnt.

The company is working with Fransmart, the franchise development company behind the growth of brands such as Five Guys to expand internationally.

The first sites are expected to open this year in the UK and Germany and there are a further five planned for 2016.

James Breslaw, who founded Neds, told M&C the company will retain complete control over who it works with as franchisees and where stores will be located.

The first franchisees have been signed up in Germany as well as a number of interested parties in London.

Breslaw said Fransmart approached Neds because it sits across a number of “booming” markets including the quick service restaurant sector, Asian food and the takeaway and delivery sector, as well as being able to translate well to the US.

He said the international franchise group approached Neds last year but only signed an agreement this month to enable its expansion ambitions.

“We have been approached over the last few years to bring Neds to the UAE, but waited because we wanted to be able to do five or 10 stores at once.”

Neds has updated its operational systems and invested in a new website ahead of signing the franchise deal and the company will continue to concentrate on this for the next few years but Breslaw has not ruled out the prospect of opening more company-owned sites.
