Motu Indian Kitchen, the delivery-only kitchen opened by JKS Restaurants, has launched a large party delivery service which will extend its reach across London.

Founder Karam Sethi told MCA that the group also expects to open its core home delivery service in other Deliveroo Editions sites across London this year – to complement Battersea, Camberwell and Canary Wharf. He said the group would continue to build its presence in London but eventually planned to operate regionally.

The new large party service will allow customers across London to make orders of a minimum of £100.

Main dishes include ‘Kashmiri Lamb Shank Roganjosh’ (£12.50), ‘Madras Prawn Masala’ (£12.50) and ‘Paneer Butter Masala’ (£9), alongside side dishes such as ‘Samosa Chat’ (£4.75) and ‘Tadka Dal’ (£4) and starters of ‘Chatpatta Tandoori Chicken Wings’ (£7) and ‘Gilafi Seekh Kebab’ (£6). Motu’s speciality ‘Feast Boxes’, which take inspiration from the traditional tiffins used to distribute meals to workers across Indian cities, include a main dish as well as ‘Kachumber Raita’, ‘Pappadums’, ‘Mango Chutney’, ‘Naan’ and ‘Pilau Rice’, starting from £16. The drinks offering includes traditional Indian soft drinks Limca lemonade and Thums Up cola as well as Cobra beer, providing the final touch for a top curry night in.

Motu launched its first site in October 2016 from its Deliveroo Editions kitchen base in Battersea and followed with an opening in Camberwell in December and Canary Wharf site in February.

Sethi told MCA: “We think we have an offer that is perfectly suited for parties and celebrations and setting the minimum order at £100 means it makes sense for us to cover the whole city.

“We are certainly ambitious about opening more kitchens but it will depend on the sites that Deliveroo comes up with. I’d hope to have more this year.

“We’re still a young business and it takes time to build up the profile in each area. Battersea is absolutely flying now and that gives us a lot of confidence.”
