Morgan M, the award-winning fine dining restaurant overseen by Morgan Meunier, is to open a second eponymous site, after acquiring a new unit opposite London’s famous Smithfield Market.

The company, which opened its first French restaurant in Liverpool Road, Islington in 2003, has taken a new lease on the former S&M Cafe on Long Lane.

The site was surrendered to the landlord earlier this year at a rent of £63,000 per annum

Since first opening, the Meunier has been nominated for and won countless awards including best Meat Free French Restaurant in Time Out 2010, Best French Restaurant in Hardens Guide 2010, Best vegetarian and Best Restaurant in Islington in Zagat Guide 2010.

Shelley Sandzer acted on behalf of Morgan M.

S&M Cafe, the London-based sausage and mash concept, currently operates two sites in the capital under the S&M Clubhouse brand.

Founded by Kevin Finch in 2002 and backed by Court Cavendish, the S&M Cafe business grew to incorporate six sites spread across the capital, by the start of 2010, but was placed on the market in May that year.

This led to The Restaurant Group acquiring the S&M Café at the O2, in Greenwich; Tortilla purchasing the S&M site in Leadenhall Market; and the S&M in Portobello Road being sold to a private individual.
