Moe’s Southwest Grill, the US fast-casual restaurant concept focused on southwestern food, is in talks with potential master franchisees regarding a launch in the UK, M&C Report understands.

The group, which is owned by Focus Brands and has over 480 sites worldwide, is understood to be seeking a franchisee who initially open a handful of sites in the country.

Last year, the company, which is led by president Paul Damico, opened its first site in Moscow as part of plans to build an estate of 50 restaurants in Russia.

In 2011, it signed a franchise agreement to open 40 sites in Turkey over the next seven years.

Referred to informally as Moe’s, the brand was founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in December 2000.

It is best known for its “flavourful southwest fare and distinct brand culture” and highlights that each meal is prepared “right before your eyes and is accompanied by free chips and salsa”, including menu items such as the Homewrecker burrito, the Billy Barou nachos, and the Close Talker salad.
