London-based delicatessen and café Mimosa is poised for growth in 2016 as it plans to grow its food to go offering, M&C has learnt.
The group is preparing to open its third café site in Kennington in an office development and is looking to add another at the end of 2016.
It opened a pop-up site in Kennington in September, which will run until the permanent Mimosa is ready to begin trading in January.
The family-run business currently operates sites in Herne Hill, Vauxhall and Kennington with the latter two locations having a greater focus on food to go former having a larger delicatessen offering.
Jan and Patricia Peacock opened the first Mimosa at Herne Hill 15 years ago. The residential setting of the café means its customer base is different to the subsequent locations that have greater trade from office workers.
Ashley Davis, daughter of the Peacocks, said the group is considering its options to focus on food to go in a move away from deli food as sales decline.
Davis said the group is keen to open additional Mimosas in parts of London with high footfall in built up office areas.
“We want to make it into a bigger chain than three but we need to be careful and find the right opportunities,” Davis said.
