MEATliquor, the popular, fast-casual concept, will make its international debut later this year in Singapore, M&C Report has learnt.

The group has entered into a joint venture with The Blind Group, the Singapore-based management company specialising in the hospitality sector, which is led by Jacques Dejardin, the former operations director at Jamie Oliver Restaurants.

The first site under the agreement, which could lead to several MEATLiquor sites opening across Asia, will open in the up-and-coming Duxton Village area of the city in May.

As with the group’s UK sites, the Singapore opening is set to be off-pitch and create out of three shop units.

The menu will feature local influences with a number of dishes set to be transferred to the group’s sites in the UK.

Among the projects The Blind Group is currently working on is Oxwell & Co a high end pub located in Singapore’s Club Street dining precinct.

The group, which late last year launched a fundraising round, is due to open in Islington in the second week of June. The site in Upper Street will feature outside space for 50, seating for 110 and will be the first of the group’s sites in London with a full bar license.

It will also have a mezzanine floor in the main building and offer tank fresh Budvar.

The group’s opening in Bristol has been delayed due to construction issues, with a three month build due to start as soon as these issues are resolved.

It is looking to secure £7m of new funds to grow from six to 12 sites by the end of 2017.

The company, which is led by Scott Collins and Yianni Papoutsis, is to bring in new shareholders as part of plans to open five sites per year from 2018. It is thought that the fundraising values the company at c£20m.

It has already secured a site in Glasgow for 2018.

The group is also actively looking for sites to do more MEATmarkets as its unit in Covent Garden is still growing.
