Shannon McKenzie has stepped down as operational managing director at Chilango, the Mexican restaurant chain, after nine years with the company

During her time at Chilango, which currently has 10 sites in London and one in Manchester, McKenzie worked her way up from a crew member in the brand’s Fleet Street restaurant, gradually taking on more responsibility, assuming the head of Marketing, People, and Operations roles along the way, and culminating in complete oversight of the day-to-day running of the business as the operational managing director.

Chilango, which is celebrated its tenth birthday last year, has been looking to strengthen its regional presence.

Last year, the 11-strong group applied to open in the ex-West Brom building society site on the corner of Colmore Row and Bennetts Hill in Birmingham, and also signed on sites in Glasgow and Leeds, none of which has subsequently opened.

It was also thought to be close on a unit in Bristol.
