McDonald’s has suspended walk-in takeaway in the UK and Ireland, though remains open for drive-thru and delivery.

Click and collect will also be available at drive-thru restaurants.

McDonald’s said walk-in takeaway services would be temporarily closed while it “reviews and verifies any additional enhanced safety measures for these services”.

McDonalds said with smaller teams and social distancing, it will take longer to serve customers.

The updates comes as the UK & Ireland business released historic 2019 financial results.

The fast food business reported total profits for the year of £320m from a turnover of £1.4bn.
