Jay Tinker, a finalist ion latest year’s MasterChef final, is to operate a group of eponymous restaurants as part of a partnership with an international health spa chain.

The chef, who closed his debut restaurant in Southport earlier this year, said that he had been approached by a fast-growing spa company to convert its existing restaurants into Tinkers.

He told local newspapers: “We have been in talks for over six months; it is not something I was going to jump into. The health spa franchise doesn’t have a name yet, as it is currently being branded, but I can confirm that I signed the contract for 12 restaurants; six in the UK and six around the world.

“There are spas in America and Dubai, so I will be working overseas for a month at a time and then back here for two weeks.”

Tinker is also set to open a new restaurant bar and grill in Formby next month.
