Mitchells & Butlers, the managed pub and casual ding group, is to unveil a brace of new All Bar One locations - the first openings under the brand in a decade. The company will next month open an All Bar One in Bishopsgate, in the heart of the City of London, on the site of its Sir Paul Pinder pub. This will be followed two weeks later by a second bar under the format, in Liverpool, at the location of a pub that previously traded under the Goose brand. In addition to the two new bars, which will take All Bar One to 39 locations, M&B is building a pipeline of further sites. Sources at M&B said the brand would be grown in a "measured but meaningful way". The company said the two new openings would herald some subtle evolution of the brand in terms of design, product mix and food menu. All Bar One is returning to site growth after several years of rationalisation - at one point site numbers were up at the 50 mark. After years of avoiding exposure to leasehold property, M&B, under chairman John Lovering, is back on the leasehold expansion trial: it is opening new Browns outlets; is to test Harvester and Toby on the high street; and plans to target retail and leisure parks.
