Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) has come under attack after staff at one of its pubs refused to serve a pregnant woman an alcoholic drink.
Caroline Williams, 26, who is five months pregnant, was asked to leave the Cricketer pub in Hove, East Sussex after having drunk one pint of beer and trying to order a further half pint.
The assistant manageress who asked Williams to leave the pub said that she had been protecting her unborn child.
A spokesperson for M&B has apologised saying that while the team member believed she was acting with her own good intentions, she did not handle the situation appropriately and it has launched an investigation.
