Loungers, the Piper-backed cafe bar operator, has lined up an eighth opening under its Cosy Club format for October this year in Leicester.

The group, which earlier this year said it could eventually expand the concept to 70 sites,  will open in a Grade II hosiery warehouse with drinks and dining terrace, close to the city’s Highcross shopping scheme.

It is thought that the company has a number of further sites in legals for the format, which is expected to reach double figures by mid-2015.

“We’ve got a list of 70-odd locations for Cosy Club,” said managing director Alex Reilley earlier this year. “I think that’s probably quite a conservative number.” Major metropolitan cities as well as smaller cities and towns are targeted, with Reilley pointing out that the concept has worked in major cities such as Bristol, Cardiff and Bath as well as smaller locations like Salisbury and Stamford, which has a population of 25,000.

“We are beginning to see the Cost Club sites coming through. We will do two this year, maybe three. Then I would like to see us add three, maybe four in 2015, but that won’t take anything away from the amount of sites we open with Lounge.”
