L’Osteria, the pizza and pasta casual dining concept, is planning to launch in the UK, as part of a joint venture with Pru Naik, formerly the largest McDonalds franchisee in the country, M&C Report understands.

L’Osteria UK, which is a joint venture between Naik and L’Osteria Austria, plans to opens its first restaurant in central London next year, before expanding to major cities and university towns.

It has hired property adviser Lewis Craig to seeks sites of 5,500/7,500sq ft, providing for 150/200 covers along with a bar area.

L’Osteria, which is an established brand in mainland Europe, opened its first restaurant in 1999 and currently operates 45 restaurants across Germany and Austria.

Naik has over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry.

He has led businesses ranging from logistics to multi-unit restaurants. Until recently, he owned and operated 25 McDonald’s restaurants in central and eest London, making him the largest McDonalds UK franchisee.
