The team behind the Lockhart has confirmed it will open a new barbecue concept in London’s Soho.

As revealed by M&C in April, New York chef Brad McDonald, who took over the kitchen at The Lockhart last year, will launch Shotgun BBQ in Kingly Street close to the upcoming Dishoom site this August.

Gwen and Chris Wren, the owners of The Lockhart with her Chris, are backing the new project which is based on a Southern US-smokehouse concept.

The Lockhart, which opened in Marylebone in 2013, was launched as London’s first upscale restaurant based on a modern take on cuisine from Mexico and the US south west.

The 75-cover restaurant launched on the site of George Ngyutin’s seafood restaurant and fishmonger Seaport at The Portman Estate’s 24 Seymour Place W1.

DCL acted on the Kingly Street deal.
