The Liars Group, the Manchester based bar and restaurant operator, has sold three sites, two Black Dog Ballrooms and the Dog Bowl bowling alley, to a pair of former managers.

Liars, led by Ross Mackenzie and Jobe Ferguson, has sold the sites to TwentyTwentyTwo bar owner and former Black Dog manager Andy Haygarth, and Black Dog area manager, Matt Robson.

Mackenzie told MCA the sale left the group with six sites, and would allow the team to concentrate on the growth of three-strong Crazy Pedro’s, the pizza and tequila bar concept, with partner Lyndon Higginson.

Mackenzie said: “It’s kind of kike a management buy-out, though Andy left us two or three years ago.

“We wish them well, and we’re concentrating on Pedro’s now.

“Overall we know have five sites in Manchester and one in Liverpool, and we’re working on a Crazy Pedro’s in Birmingham and looking further afield.”

TwentyTwentyTwo is a ping pong bar on Dale Street. It is not clear whether the sites will remain under the Black Dog brand.
