Leon, the health fast food chain, plans to work with both HMSHost and SSP to enter new international markets, MCA understands.

Yesterday, the John Vincent-led group announced it had signed a five-year deal with SSP to open sites across UK train stations. It already operates franchised outlets with SSP’s rival HMSHost at Kings Cross, East Midlands and Stansted airports, the Eurotunnel terminal in Kent and two at Heathrow. HMSHost is also set to open a Leon franchise in Amsterdam’s Schipol airport later this year.

Vincent told MCA: “Both HMS and SSP are important partners for us. They are international companies and we will be looking to work with both of them outside the UK.”

It is thought that it may work with HMSHost on its debut site in the US, which is set to open in Florida next year.

At the same time, the 35-strong group has confirmed plans to open its first site in Scotland and its first high street store outside of London, in Glasgow.

The new Glasgow store in Buchanan Galleries will open its doors in July.

Vincent said: “I have happy memories of Glasgow. It is a city with style, spirit and energy. Now I have an excuse to come more often. We have received a lot of requests from people in Glasgow asking for us to open in their home town – we hope we can do them proud and create a place they love.”
