Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecote, the French brasserie chain, is to open its third site in the UK, after securing the Goumet Pizza unit in London’s Canary Wharf.

The company, which was founded in 1959 by Paul Gineste de Saurs, has secured a new lease on the unbranded Gondola Group site. It is believed to have paid a substantial premium for the unit.

The group, which is now led by de Saurs’ daughter Helene Godillot, currently operates restaurants in Marylebone, Throgmorton Street, New York and Paris.

It is also thought to be interested in opening a site in Manchester’s King’s Street.

The chain is famous for serving steak frites, with a starter of green salad with walnuts dressed with mustard vinaigrette.

Fleurets is understood to have acted on behalf of Gondola, while CWM acted on behalf of L’Entrecote.
