Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons in Oxford has been named the top-rated restaurant by travel website TripAdvisor.

The restaurant held off competition from Gordon Ramsey’s west London restaurant Petrus, which was number three, The Ledbury in Notting Hill at number seven, and Michel Roux Jnr’s Le Gavroche in Mayfair at 10.

Restaurants in Suffolk, Devon, Gloucestershire and Jersey, plus two in Scotland made up the rest of the list.

James Kay from TripAdvisor said: “This year’s list of Travellers’ Choice Restaurants award winners proves just how diverse fine dining experiences have become across the UK. Whether you’re as far north as Auchterarder or as far south as Jersey, you’ll be able to find a Travellers’ Choice winner close by.”

Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, said: “It’s always food for thought when we tap our community for their favorite restaurants. This year, they’ve highlighted some amazing eateries in popular destinations, but also uncovered some hidden gems that are off the beaten path.”
