Las Iguanas, the Bowmark Capital-backed chain, has netted £20k of toys for good causes through its Christmas Present Fund.

The 33-strong group said that with the help of retailers The Entertainer, which matched the restaurant group’s donation pound for pound, and supplied the toys, its team members have distributed over £20k of toys to local children’s charities, hospices, hospitals and refuges just in time for Christmas.

The company donated £5 to its present fund for each party booking of 10 or more over the festive period and a bumper party season has made for a substantial contribution.

Mos Shamel, Las Iguanas operations director said: “This really is one of the most rewarding things we have done in all the years we have been in business. Our teams each chose their own local charity and often this was because they had a personal connection to a good cause. It’s been brilliant to get out and visit the people who are really making a difference in the local community and what we have been able to contribute is only a drop in the ocean compared to what these organisations provide day in day out.”

M&C Report revealed earlier this month that the 33-strong group is on the verge of appointing advisers to explore options for the group, which could lead to a possible sale of the brand next year.

It is set to add further restaurants in Bournemouth, Swansea, Glasgow and Chester. It is thought a site in Bracknell is being lined up for a 2015 opening.

Glasgow will be its next opening in February.
