Jamie’s Italian, the casual dining chain spearheaded by Jamie Oliver, has secured a site for a new restaurant at a shopping centre in Milton Keynes. The company has signed a 25-year lease for the 6,500 sq ft restaurant in the Silbury Arcade at thecentre:mk and is set to open in late summer. The restaurant will be located next to a Wagamama site. Anthony Ross, spokesperson for thecentre:mk’s joint owners and asset manager at Cushman & Wakefield Investors, said: “The arrival of Jamie’s Italian at thecentre:mk complements our ongoing strategy of enhancing the centre’s food offer and encouraging people to make evening visits to the city centre.” CB Richard Ellis and GCW advised thecentre:mk and Greame Wait Surveyors represented Jamie’s Italian. Yesterday M&C Report reported that Jamie’s Italian is also set to open at the Maltings shopping centre in St Albans. Talking to M&C Report last month, managing director Simon Blagden said the 17-strong chain aimed to have 25 restaurants opened by the end of this year. The chain will open its next restaurant in May, in Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. It will also open in St Albans; in the old court building in Cheltenham; in King’s Street, Manchester; and in the former Bank of Scotland branch in Threadneedle Street, London. The group is also thought to be close to securing a site in Aberdeen and at Bluewater Shopping Centre, which will open near the end of the year.
