Honest Burgers, the London-based concept led by ex-Bill’s operations director Dorian Waite, has secured a new funding package from Santander to aid its expansion plans in the capital.

The funding, from Santander, which consists of traditional lending plus £500,000 of growth capital finance from the Spanish bank’s Breakthrough programme, has been used to secure the group’s upcoming sites in Kings Cross and Market Place, plus a seventh site in the capital it is currently working on.

Waite said: “We have tried to differentiate ourselves from our competitors by instilling a sense of independence in each of our restaurants.

“Accessing finance without giving up a slice of your business is quite difficult for businesses of our size.”

The group, which will open its fifth site later this month at 251 Pentonville Road, King’s Cross, recently secured the former Bagelmania unit in Market Place for a 50-cover site opening next March.
