Superfoods, a Bristol-based healthy fast food concept, is planning to open another five stores before launching a franchise model for expansion, M&C Report has learnt.
The fledgling restaurant run by Charlie Furnivall opened in February in Bristol city centre and has since expanded by opening an off-site kitchen and launching a delivery service.
Furnivall told M&C Report he intends to open three to five corporate stores in the southwest before launching a franchise model to take the concept nationwide.
He is currently looking at sites in Bath and is considering Gloucester and Cheltenham as additional locations close to the centralised kitchen.
“We would love to grow as big as we can and share the idea around,” Furnivall said.
The idea behind the concept came from his interest in sports nutrition and frustration at the lack of healthy fast food options.
Superfoods opens from 8am to 11pm to serve three meals a day to cater for customers at times when other healthy options may not be available: “We want to be open all day when normally often all you can get is a take away.”
Furnivall said the concept has been branded from the outset to appeal to franchisees by ensuring it is distinct in its look and feel. He has styled it in a fast food format with a service counter, a sit-up bar and ten tables, and all food is available to take away.
Furnivall is constructing a proposal to attract external investment to continue his expansion plans.
