Handmade Burger Company, the Birmingham-based burger chain led by Chris Sergeant, is set to open its first site in Manchester after securing a unit in the city’s Deansgate area.

The 14-strong chain has secured a 2,000sqft unit in the Grade II-Listed Coursthouse development, with an opening scheduled for next summer.

The group opened its latest site last month at Wakefield’s Trinity Walk development.

Last November, the group launched a flagship site in the new restaurant quarter at Bullring Shopping Centre.

It has also secured a site at the planned London Designer Outlet in Wembley, London. The proposed 280,000sq ft centre is scheduled to open in 2013.

The company has also taken a site at the Central Village complex in Liverpool.
