US franchise The Halal Guys is to replace Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Earls Court, MCA has learnt.
The site, at 163-165 Earls Court Road, will be Halal Guys second UK opening, with a third planned for London in 2019. It opened its first UK site on Irving Street in Leicester Square last month.
ITICO F+B, which owns the UK franchise has previously said it is looking to expand to 20 locations across the country over the next five years.
Whitney Myrus, managing partner at ITICO F+B recently told MCA’s sister title, BigHospitality that it was looking to open between four and six sites in London over the next 24 months, ”and then the balance in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh”.
The Halal Guys was founded by Egyptian immigrants Mohammed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka and Abedelbaset Elsayed, who opened a street food start cart in New York in 1990. Franchising began rapidly in 2015, with more than 450 sites sold in six countries over the following three years.
