Hakkasan Ltd, the group led by Niall Howard, which is backed by Tasameem, a property arm of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, has opened the first restaurant under its eponymous brand in Dubai. The group’s sixth restaurant under the Hakkasan brand officially opened yesterday at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The new 152-cover restaurant features an outside terrace with an additional 88 covers. The group opened its first site in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi in 2009. It also operates two restaurants under the brand in London, one in Miami and one in Mumbai. It will open an 11,000sq ft, 200-cover restaurant and bar will in Midtown Manhattan, New York next spring. Earlier this year, the group acquired Sake No Hana, the Japanese fine dining restaurant in London. Tasameem has reportedly made up to £100m available to fund the roll out of Hakkasan internationally and its sister concept Yauatcha nationally.
