Tragus, the casual dining group, has announced that travel, consumer and leisure industry veteran Charles Gurassa is to replace Giles Thorley as its non-executive chairman. Gurassa is currently a trustee of the National Trust and non-executive director of Easyjet, Genesis Housing Trust and Mach. He was previously chairman of Virgin Mobile, group chief executive of Thomson Travel and executive chairman of TUI Northern Europe and has held board positions with Whitbread, Lovefilm, Phones4u and Virgin Mobile. Thorley, formerly chief executive of Punch Taverns, is to remain with Tragus as a non-executive director. Gurassa said: “This is an exciting yet challenging time for the industry and I am looking forward to working with Tragus as we continue to develop and grow our restaurant brands.” Graham Turner, Tragus Group chief executive, said: “I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Charles and I am glad that Giles will remain on the board as an independent non-executive director. His support and counsel over the past five years has been much appreciated.”
