Operators Greg and Marie Marchand have closed their restaurant, Frenchie, in London’s Covent Garden after eight years of trading.

Announcing the decision on Instagram, the pair said operating in London has been “increasingly challenging,” leading them to decide to focus on their restaurants in France.

Frenchie’s Paris outpost, which holds a Michelin star, opened on Rue de Nil in 2009, followed by the Covent Garden site in 2015.

The Marchands commented: “As a family-owned restaurant, the last year operating in London has been increasingly challenging and although I wish we could continue, it is time to close our doors and focus on our restaurants in France,” the post read.

“We’ve had the best time in this amazing city and I would like to thank our guests, suppliers, landlord, and team who have worked tirelessly to make Frenchie rock - thank you from the bottom of my heart. We hope to see you again soon London.”
