Goodman, the upscale Russian steakhouse concept, has secured its third UK site – in Canary Wharf. The group, which made its debut in London in December 2008 in Mayfair, has secured a unit in South Quay for an 80-cover restaurant that will reportedly also include a takeaway part offering burgers. The group opened its second site in the UK last year in Old Jewry Street, next door to Brown’s, the bar-restaurant concept operated by Mitchells & Butlers. It is thought that company is close to adding a fourth site to its UK estate. Its restaurant in Maddox Street, Mayfair, was Goodman’s first outside of Moscow – it has 10 restaurants in the Russian capital, understood to be producing annual profits of $12m, plus a further site in Zurich.
