Thai restaurant group Giggling Squid is set to open a new site in Cambridge next week.

Launching on Monday 28 September, the restaurant will be the 37th opening for the brand, and its biggest site to date.

Located in The Old Library on the city’s Wheeler Street, it will hold a seating capacity of 150 covers.

From Monday, the site will operate for dine in and takeaway – via Deliveroo – and will be running a 50% discount offer in its first seven days of opening.

“In undoubtedly challenging times for the hospitality industry, we’re delighted we are in a position to open a new restaurant,” said co-founder Andy Laurillard. “The new location in Cambridge will be our biggest and reflects our determination to continue with our ambitious business expansion plans.”

“It is really important to me that people feel welcomed and at home in our restaurants,” added co-founder Pranee Laurillard. “Every Giggling Squid is a true labour of love and has my own personal touch to it.

“The Old Library is a spectacular space and it has been fantastic to add our Giggling Squid touch to this magnificent building.”

In July, the group secured a £5m loan through Barclays, and has since reopened its entire estate.
