Giggling Squid, the fast growing Thai restaurant group, is currently in discussions on five sites as it prepares to open in Salisbury and Bristol, M&C Report has learnt.

The company has announced it will open in Bristol after Christmas and Salisbury in Spring 2015 to bring its estate to 12.

Andrew Laurillard, who leads the company told M&C Report there are currently five other sites “with lawyers at the moment”.

The operator moved its banking to Barclays to increase its borrowing facility to £2m, Laurillard said the move from HSBC doubles its previous borrowing power.

The group currently operates sites across the southeast in in Brighton, Hove, Crawley, Tunbridge Wells, Henley-on-Thames, Reigate, Stratford-upon-Avon, Marlow, Horsham and Sevenoaks. It will open in Bristol after Christmas.

The restaurant in Hove, which was the first in the group, is currently undergoing refurbishment following a devastating flood in July which caused extensive damage. It will re-open later this year.
